Violator sind bereit, ihr Schweigen mit der Veröffentlichung von „Chapel of the Sick“, der ersten Single aus ihrem lang erwarteten Comeback-Album „Unholy Retribution“, das am 5. September 2025 über Kill Again Records erscheint, zu brechen.

Über die neue Single sagte die Band: „Wir haben die Angst überwunden …“ Ein Teil des Refrains von „Chapel of the Sick“, der ersten Single und dem ersten Musikvideo aus dem neuen Album von Violator, offenbart ein grundlegendes und unausweichliches Thema des Albums: den Wunsch nach Rache nach dem Durchleben dunkler Zeiten. In gewisser Weise trifft dies auch auf den Kontext der Pandemie zu, auf den neofaschistischen Albtraum, der Brasilien heimgesucht hat, und sogar auf die Band selbst, die seit mehreren Jahren still ist.

Im Verlauf des Textes wird jedoch schnell klar, dass das Thema viel spezifischer ist: eine eindeutige Metapher für den palästinensischen Widerstand. Und dass die „Kapelle der Kranken” der Staat Israel selbst ist, in seiner blutrünstigsten Form. Musikalisch ist es auch einer der eindringlichsten Tracks. Die Gitarren stapeln Riffs in typischer Slayer-Manier, sowohl in Form als auch Klang, mit schneidendem Picking, Powerchords, die der Bridge ihre Dynamik verleihen – wie in „Chemical Warfare“ – und totaler Wut nach dem Refrain. Im „Mosh”-Teil, wenn das Riff die Drums herbeiruft, ahmen diese grausame zionistische Bombardements nach (siehe Video!), und dann hören wir einen der charmantesten Double-Pedal-Grooves im Thrash Metal der letzten Zeit. Der Drum-Sound ist in der Tat einer der Höhepunkte von „Unholy Retribution” insgesamt. Wie eine Absichtserklärung macht Violator mit „Chapel of the Sick“ deutlich, dass sie sich nicht abgekühlt haben. Dass bestimmte Dinge nicht verhandelbar sind, darunter das unwiderrufliche Bekenntnis zum Thrash. Die Bekräftigung des Paktes, bevor andere Möglichkeiten in einem Album voller Möglichkeiten offenbart werden.“

Musikalisch platzt das Album vor schmetternden Riffs, präziser Rhythmusgenauigkeit und einem unverkennbaren Sinn für Dringlichkeit. Groovige Eingängigkeit und blitzende technische Brillanz halten die Titelliste fließend wie eine wütende Flut – unvorhersehbar, gewalttätig und kathartisch. Die Produktion entspricht dieser Wildheit mit einer klanglichen Identität, die sowohl organisch als auch klar ist, dabei jedoch auf genau die richtige Weise ungeschliffen: eine rohe, analog geprägte Mischung, die jeden Snare-Hit und Gitarrenbiss verstärkt, ohne die raue Kante der Band zu opfern. Es ist ein Klang, der sich live anfühlt, lebendig ist und unbestreitbar Violator ist.

Lyrisch bleibt die Band ihrer Mission treu: Ungerechtigkeit zu konfrontieren, Korruption aufzudecken und ein hartes Licht auf den Verfall zu werfen, der unter der Oberfläche der modernen Gesellschaft gärt. Mit „Unholy Retribution“ nutzt Violator weiterhin ihre Musik als Waffe und Warnung.

VIOLATOR are ready to break their silence with the release of „Chapel of the Sick“, the first single from their long-awaited comeback album „Unholy Retribution“, due out September 5th, 2025 via Kill Again Records.

Elaborating on the new single, the band shared: „We have crossed beyond fear…“ Part of the chorus of „Chapel of the Sick,“ the first single and music video from Violator’s new album, reveals a fundamental and inescapable theme of the album: the desire for revenge after emerging from dark times.
In a way, it applies to the pandemic context, the neo-fascist nightmare that has ravaged Brazil, and even the band itself, which has been silent for several years. However, as the lyrics unfold, we soon realize that the theme is much more specific: a clear metaphor for Palestinian resistance. And that the „chapel of the sick“ is the State of Israel itself, in its most bloodthirsty form. Musically, it is also one of the most incisive tracks. The guitars pile up riffs of typical Slayer lineage, both in form and tone, with cutting picking, power chords that provide the bridge its dynamics – like „Chemical Warfare“ — and total fury after the chorus.

At the the „mosh“ part, when the riff summons the drums, they emulate cruel Zionist bombardments (watch the video!), and then what we hear is one of the most charming double-pedal grooves in thrash metal in recent memory. The drums sound, in fact, is one of the high points of „Unholy Retribution“ as a whole.
Like a letter of intent, „Chapel of the Sick“ is Violator making it clear that they haven’t cooled off. That certain things are non-negotiable, among them the irrevocable commitment to thrash. The reaffirmation of the pact, before revealing other possibilities in an album full of them.

Musically, the album bursts with blistering riffs, tight rhythmic precision and an unmistakable sense of urgency. Groove-laden catchiness and flashes of technical brilliance keep the tracklist flowing like a furious tide – unpredictable, violent and cathartic. The production matches this ferocity with a sonic identity that’s both organic and clear, yet unpolished in just the right way: a raw, analog-flavored mix that enhances every snare hit and guitar bite without sacrificing the band’s gritty edge. It’s a sound that feels live, alive, and undeniably VIOLATOR.

Lyrically, the band stays loyal to its mission: confronting injustice, exposing corruption and shining a harsh light on the rot festering beneath the surface of modern society. With „Unholy Retribution“, VIOLATOR continue to use their music as both weapon and warning.
