Testimony Records kündigt stolz das neue Album von Nightbearer mit dem Titel „Defiance“ an, das am 13. Juni 2025 auf CD, LP und in digitaler Version erscheinen wird.
Zwischen den Mächten des uralten Aberglaubens und der wissenschaftlichen Aufklärung tobt ein brutaler Krieg: Nightbearer führen die Offensive mit ihrem vernichtenden dritten Album „Defiance“ an. Die deutschen Death Dealer aus dem ostwestfälischen Paderborn haben ein Album auf die Beine gestellt, das sich den für ihn typischen HM-2-Kettensägengitarrensound bewahrt und auch die unverfrorene Liebe zum Melodic Death Metal der schwedischen Art beibehält.
„Defiance“ markiert auch einen weiteren Schritt in der vorsichtigen, aber stetigen Entwicklung ihres Sounds, indem es ihrem Old-School-Sound eine schwarze Passage hier und einen doomigen Moment dort hinzufügt. Herausgekommen ist ein insgesamt deutlich atmosphärischeres Album, das perfekt zum lyrischen Konzept passt. Das Album ist direkt von der berühmten „His Dark Materials“-Buchtrilogie des englischen Autors Sir Philip Pullman inspiriert. Der Text stellt Schlüsselfiguren und Ereignisse in der Handlung vor, die sich um eine tiefere Bedeutungsebene rund um die Emanzipation der Menschheit von der Unterdrückung durch die Religion dreht. Nightbearer setzen sich trotzig mit dem Widerstand auseinander, um Aufklärung 2.0 herbeizuführen.
Sänger Michael Torka erklärt: „‚His Dark Materials‘ repräsentiert sowohl textlich als auch musikalisch das, was Nightbearer mit ‚Defiance‘ im Jahr 2025 entfesseln werden. A brutal war is raging between the forces of ancient superstition and scientific enlightenment: NIGHTBEARER are leading the charge with their crushing third full-length „Defiance“. The German death dealers from the City of Paderborn in Eastern Westphalia have hammered out an album that retains their signature HM-2 chainsaw guitar sound and also maintains their unapologetic love for melodic death metal of the Swedish kind.
„Defiance“ also marks another step in the careful but steady evolution of their sound by adding a black passage here and a doom-spiced moment there to their old school sound. The result is an overall much more atmospheric album, which perfectly suits its lyrical concept. The album is directly inspired by the renowned „His Dark Materials“ trilogy of books by English author Sir Philip Pullman. The lyrics introduce key characters and events in the plot that revolves on a deeper level of meaning around humanity’s emancipation from oppression by religion. NIGHTBEARER defiantly engage with the resistance to bring about Enlightenment 2.0.
