Die polnische Bestattungs-Death-Doom-Entität Postmortal wird am 9. Mai 2025 ihr Debütalbum „Profundis Omnis“ über Aesthetic Death vorstellen.
Mit einer unerschütterlichen Leidenschaft für das Genre gestaltet, kanalisiert die Band auf dieser Veröffentlichung die düstere, monolithische Essenz der Großen des Funeral Doom. Mit einem tiefen Verständnis für die grundlegenden Elemente des Stils formen Postmortal ihren Sound zu einem erdrückenden und immersiven Erlebnis und liefern eine Interpretation, die sowohl eindringlich atmosphärisch als auch verheerend schwer ist.
Die Idee, eine Funeral Doom Band zu gründen, entstand 2015 während des tschechischen Metal-Musikfestivals Brutal Assault, bei dem die meisten Originalmitglieder der Band anwesend waren: Michał (Gitarre), Karol (Gitarre), Sludge (Bass) und Kamila (Schlagzeug). Zu dieser Zeit wurden Postmortal offiziell gegründet, bald stieß Dawid (Gesang) hinzu und Sludge wurde später durch Paweł ersetzt. Die Proben und das Schreiben der ersten Songs begannen und Ende 2017/Anfang 2018 konnte die Band zwei Gigs in ihrer Heimatstadt Krakau spielen, die bisher einzigen Gigs. Im April 2018 wurde Karol durch Kamil ersetzt und die Band nahm die EP „Soil“ auf. Kurz nach diesen Aufnahmen verließ der Schlagzeuger die Band.
Trotz langwieriger Suche gelang es nicht, einen Nachfolger zu finden, so dass die Band in die Pause ging.
Im Jahr 2024 beschlossen zwei Originalmitglieder, Dawid und Michał, Postmortal als Zwei-Personen-Projekt mit Ideen zu reaktivieren und sich auf die Erstellung eines Debüt-Studioalbums zu konzentrieren. Im selben Jahr wurde „Profundis Omnis“ aufgenommen, das Tracks adaptierte, die größtenteils in der Anfangsphase der Band geschrieben wurden.

Polish funeral death doom entity POSTMORTAL will unveil its debut album „Profundis Omnis“ on May 9th 2025 via Aesthetic Death.
Meticulously crafted with an unwavering passion for the genre, this release sees the band channel the bleak, monolithic essence of funeral doom’s greats. With a deep understanding of the style’s fundamental elements, POSTMORTAL shape their sound into a crushing and immersive experience, delivering an interpretation that is both hauntingly atmospheric and devastatingly heavy.
The idea to create a funeral doom band was born in 2015 during the Czech metal music festival Brutal Assault, where most original members of the band were present: Michał (guitar), Karol (guitar), Sludge (bass) and Kamila (drums). In those days POSTMORTAL was officially created, joined soon by Dawid (vocals), and Sludge later replaced by Paweł. Rehearsals and writing of the first songs began and by late 2017/early 2018, the band were able to do two gigs in their hometown of Krakow, the only gigs to date.
In April 2018, Karol was replaced by Kamil and the band recorded the EP „Soil“. Shortly after these recordings, the drummer left the band. Despite a lenghty search, it was not possible to find her successor and as a result the band went into hiatus.
In 2024, two original members, Dawid and Michał decided to reactivate POSTMORTAL as a two-person project with ideas and focus on creating a debut studio album. In the same year, “Profundis Omnis” was recorded, adapting tracks that were mostly written during the band’s early period.
