Nach ihrem monumentalen Auftritt beim Wacken Open Air 2023 und der Blockbuster-Tour 2024 laden die beliebten Shanty-Renegaden ihre Fans auf eine aufregende Reise durch das Leben der Seeleute des 18. Jahrhunderts ein. Das Album verbindet meisterhaft ergreifende Balladen und raue Hymnen und webt Geschichten von Kameradschaft, Verlust und flüchtiger Freude vor der unerbittlichen Kulisse des offenen Meeres. Ye Banished Privateers werden das ganze Jahr über auf Tour sein. Diesen Herbst werden sie mit der Pagan Folk Band Faun aufbrechen – mehr Infos findet ihr auf der Website der Band.
Die erste Single „Chained Below“ bringt düstere Melodien und kraftvolle Texte, die die Schrecken des transatlantischen Sklavenhandels beschwören. Die Band will den Unterdrückten ihre Stimme leihen und Licht auf die allzu realen, eindringlichen Geschichten von gestohlenen Freiheiten und den edlen Kämpfen um deren Rückeroberung werfen.
Ye Banished Privateers auf „Chained Below“: „Unser Song ‚Chained Below‘ ist eine Reflexion über die Schrecken des transatlantischen Sklavenhandels im 18. Jahrhundert. Der Text reflektiert das unvorstellbare Leid, das versklavte Individuen ertragen mussten, deren Leben und Arbeit den Wohlstand von Imperien und Volkswirtschaften befeuerten. Indem wir diese Stimmen in den Vordergrund rücken, wollen wir die menschlichen Kosten eines Wirtschaftssystems beleuchten, das auf Ausbeutung und Ungerechtigkeit aufgebaut ist.“
Eröffnet wird die Reise mit „The Cranker“, einer düsteren, fesselnden Geschichte von verfluchten Matrosen, die sich in einen frenetischen Tanz verwickeln. Tracks wie „Raise Your Glass“ strotzen vor dem Klappern von Tamburinen und Whiskey-getränkten Refrains und laden die Zuhörer zu einem ausgelassenen maritimen Fest ein. In der Zwischenzeit ist „Waves Away“, eine traurige, aber wunderschöne Ballade, die die bittersüße Essenz des Lebens auf See einfängt, und „As The Tree Falls“ eine eindringliche maritime Ballade über Liebe, Verlust und Schicksal und akustische Texturen, um Themen wie Liebe und Verlust zu erkunden. Following their monumental performance at Wacken Open Air 2023 and blockbuster tour in 2024, the beloved shanty renegades invite fans on a thrilling journey through the lives of 18th-century sailors. The album masterfully blends poignant ballads and raucous anthems, weaving tales of camaraderie, loss, and fleeting joy against the relentless backdrop of the open sea. YE BANISHED PRIVATEERS will be on tour throughout the year. This autumn, they will head out with pagan folk band Faun – more info can be found on the band’s website.
The first single “Chained Below” brings somber melodies and powerful lyrics recanting the horrors of the transatlantic slave trade. The band aims to lend their voice to the oppressed, shining light onto the all too real, haunting stories of stolen freedoms and the noble struggles to reclaim it.

Meanwhile, „Waves Away“, a sorrowful yet beautiful ballad that captures the bittersweet essence of life at sea and „As The Tree Falls” is a haunting maritime ballad of love, loss, and fate and acoustic textures to explore themes of love and loss.
