Nach ihrem erfolgreichen Debütalbum, das eine Kassette, eine CD-Veröffentlichung über Stormspell Records und eine CD-Neuveröffentlichung über Silverstream Records hervorbrachte, ist die ungarische Band Burning Sun bereit, ihr zweites Album „Retribution“ zu veröffentlichen! Es ist ein dunkles und kohärentes Fantasy-Power-Metal-Konzeptalbum, das eine Geschichte über Kampf, Mü struggle, Rache und schließlich Rettung erzählt.

Obwohl die Haupt-Einflüsse von „Retribution“ in der deutschen Szene der 1990er Jahre, wie HELLOWEEN oder GRAVE DIGGER, verwurzelt sind, liefert Burning Sun ein Power Metal Album mit einem einzigartigen Touch.

Mit einer breiten Palette von Gitarrenharmonien, massiven Refrains, schwebenden Vocals und geschmackvollen Gitarrensoli ist „Retribution“ nicht nur ein weiteres einprägsames Power Metal Release, sondern eine musikalische Reise, die ein immersives Erlebnis schafft.

Obwohl das Songwriting poliert ist, hat der Mix eine scharfe und rohe Kante, die das Konzept des Albums betont. Lyrisch sind die Songs des Albums direkt miteinander verbunden und erzählen die Geschichte von Emaly, einer jungen Paladine, die als einzige Überlebende eines Zusammenstoßes zwischen ihrer Gruppe und dem Totenkult eines Nekromanten bleibt. Nachdem ihr Mentor und seine Gefährten gefallen sind, schwört sie, ihren Tod zu rächen, und macht sich auf die Suche nach dem Nekromanten, um seinen Kult einmal für alle Mal zu vernichten.

Das Album basiert auf der Geschichte und den Texten von Zoltán Papi (Bass), während die Musik von Pancho Ireland (Gesang, Gitarre) komponiert wurde, der auch von seiner eigenen Band, Merciless Law, bekannt ist. „Retribution“ bietet einige kleinere Soundeffekte und gesprochene Erzählungen, die helfen, die Geschichte zu erzählen, aber den Fluss eines starken und kraftvollen Albums nicht stören.

Following their successful debut album spawning a cassette, a CD release via Stormspell Records and a CD re-release via Silverstream Records, Hungary’s BURNING SUN is ready to unleash their second record, „Retribution“! It is a dark and cohesive fantasy power metal concept album that tells a story about fight, struggle, revenge and finally, salvation.

Although the main influences of „Retribution“ are rooted in the German scene of the 1990s such as HELLOWEEN or GRAVE DIGGER, BURNING SUN delivers a power metal album with a unique touch. With a wide range of guitar harmonies, massive choruses, soaring vocals and tasteful guitar solos, „Retribution“ is not just another memorable power metal release, but a musical journey that creates an immersive experience. Though the songwriting is polished, the mix has a sharp and raw edge that emphasizes the  concept of the record.

Lyrically, the songs of the album are directly connected telling the story of Emaly, a young paladin, who remains the sole survivor of a clash between her group and the death cult of a necromancer. After her mentor and his companions fell, she swears to avenge their death then sets out find the necromancer and destroy his cult once and for all.

The album is based on Zoltán Papi’s (bass) story and lyrics while the music was composed by Pancho Ireland (vocals, guitars) also known from his own band, Merciless Law. „Retribution“ offers some minor sound effects & acted narration that help to tell the story but don’t break the flow of a strong and powerful record.
