Gates Of Hell Records kündigt stolz die Veröffentlichung von Caballero’s selbstbetiteltem Debütalbum auf Vinyl (ltd bis 400) und Tape (ltd bis 100) an, das am 21. Februar 2025 erscheinen soll.
Das Album ist ein baldiger Underground-Klassiker, der an die glorreichen Tage des frühen US Power Metal von Künstlern wie Jag Panzer, Omen, Brocas Helm und Cirith Ungol erinnert!
Die sieben Stücke des Albums verbinden konzeptionell die spanische Eroberung des Aztekenreichs und beziehen sich sowohl auf genau diesen Punkt in der Geschichte als auch auf die aztekische Mythologie. Letztlich geht es in den Songs aber um den Krieg, der als göttliche Berufung und Weg zur Unsterblichkeit für die brutalen Krieger auf beiden Seiten des Konflikts gesehen werden kann. Die zentrale Figur ist Mictlantecuhtli, der aztekische Gott des Todes, der über den beiden Seiten des Konflikts thront und einen wesentlichen Teil dessen einfängt, worum es auf dem Album geht. In den Worten der Band: „Dieses Album klingt wie ein Schlachtfeld, riecht nach Blut und Schweiß und quält dich mit Schrecken, sowohl physisch als auch metaphysisch.„

A soon-to-be underground classic, the album calls back to the glory days of early US Power Metal from the likes Jag Panzer, Omen, Brocas Helm, and Cirith Ungol!
The album’s seven cuts conceptually tie together the Spanish conquest of the Aztec Empire, drawing from that exact point in history as well as Aztec mythology. Ultimately, though, the songs are about warfare, which can be seen as a divine calling and a route to immortality for the brutal warriors on both sides of the conflict. The central figure is Mictlantecuhtli, the Aztec God of Death, looming over the two sides of the conflict, which captures an essential part of what the album is about. In the words of the band: “This album sounds like a battlefield, smells of blood and sweat and torments you with terrors both physical and metaphysical.
