Torontos härtest arbeitendes Power-Trio, Danko Jones, kehrt mit „Leo Rising“ zurück, einem elf Tracks umfassenden Meisterwerk in schweißgetränktem, bodenständigem Rock ’n’ Roll. Produziert zur glühend heißen Perfektion von langjährigem Mitarbeiter Eric Ratz, erscheint das Album am 21. Nach dem begeisterten Empfang des Eröffnungssalvos „What You Need“ und der Feier-Hymne „Everyday Is Saturday Night“ dreht „Leo Rising“ den Regler über elf mit messerscharfen Riffs, donnernden Rhythmen und mitreißenden Hooks. Gitarrenlegende Marty Friedman (MEGADETH, CACOPHONY) gibt einen atemberaubenden Gastauftritt auf der zukünftigen Single „Diamond in the Rough“, während andere Höhepunkte – vom priapischen Stolz von „Hot Fox“ bis zum dacherschütternden „It’s a Celebration“ – beweisen, dass Danko Jones den Rock am Leben erhalten, indem sie es besser tun als jeder andere.

„Ich mag die Routine des Aufnehmens, Tourens, Schreibens und des Wiederholens – ich kann das bis zu meinem Tod machen,“ grinst Frontmann Danko Jones. „Es mag langweilig klingen, aber es ist so schwer für eine Band, das zu erreichen. Ich nehme das nicht auf die leichte Schulter. Außerdem ist es eine Seite aus dem Motörhead-Handbuch, also funktioniert es! John Calabrese nahm Bassspuren aus Finnland auf, Rich Knox flog nach Toronto, um Schlagzeug zu recorden, und Danko arbeitete mit dem Produzenten Eric Ratz in derselben Stadt zusammen, um Gesang und Gitarren aufzunehmen. Trotz der erneuten getrennten Aufnahmen ist die Chemie der Band unverkennbar. Das Ergebnis ist pur Danko Jones: kompakt, laut und bühnenreif.

Toronto’s hardest-working power trio, DANKO JONES, roar back with „Leo Rising“, an eleven-track masterclass in sweat-soaked, no-nonsense rock ’n’ roll. Following the rabid reception to the opening salvo “What You Need” and the party-starting anthem “Everyday Is Saturday Night”, „Leo Rising“ turns the dial past eleven with razor-sharp riffs, thunderous rhythms, and fist-pumping hooks. Guitar legend Marty Friedman (MEGADETH, CACOPHONY) makes a blistering guest appearance on the future single “Diamond in the Rough,” while other standouts – from the priapic swagger of “Hot Fox” to the roof-rattling “It’s a Celebration” – prove Danko Jones are keeping rock alive by doing it better than anyone else.

“I like the routine of recording, touring, writing, repeat — I can do that till I’m dead,” grins frontman Danko Jones. “It may sound boring, but it’s so hard for a band to achieve. John Calabrese laid down bass tracks from Finland, Rich Knox flew to Toronto to record drums, and Danko worked with producer Eric Ratz in the same city to capture vocals and guitars. Despite recording separately once again, the band’s chemistry is unmistakable. The result is pure Danko Jones: tight, loud, and built for the stage.
