„‚Fallen Star‘ handelt davon, den Burn-out von jemandem zu ertragen, der uns nahe steht“, sagt Frontfrau Justine Jones. „Es kann verheerend sein, hilflos zuzusehen, wie jemand, den man liebt, weiterhin zu nah an die Sonne fliegt und nicht aus ihr lernt. Manchmal musst du dich einfach distanzieren und sie aus der Ferne lieben. Wir waren der Meinung, dass es der Titeltrack sein sollte, da er sich thematisch um die Texte des neuen Albums dreht. Schlechte Gewohnheiten ablegen und die Herausforderungen des Lebens meistern.“

Justine fügt hinzu: „Das Musikvideo zu diesem Song zeigt den Raum und die Isolation, die man beim Schreiben des Textes für diesen Song gefühlt hat. Als Titeltrack des Albums wollten wir das Video so ausladend und ätherisch aussehen lassen wie den Song.“

„Wir wollen die Flagge des Heavy Metal und der Traditionen, die er mit sich bringt, hochhalten“, sagt Gitarrist und Songwriter Sammy Urwin, „aber gleichzeitig wollen wir unseren Teil dazu beitragen, die Dinge voranzubringen.“

Seit sie sich als Teenager am Stadtrand von London kennengelernt haben, haben Sängerin Justine Jones und Gitarrist / Co-Sänger Sammy den Weg vor sich fest im Blick. Zuerst ging es nur darum, mit den lokalen Szene-Bands, die sie bewunderten, zusammenzustehen, aber es dauerte nicht lange, bis sie ihren eigenen Weg einschlugen, Lebenskünstler mit einer Mission, die sich vom wilden Mathcore ihrer frühen EPs zu einem Vollgas-Karrierehoch mit dem Album „Conquering“ von 2021 entwickelten. Und jetzt gibt es ‚Fallen Star‘, eine 11-Track-Tour-de-Force, bei der die kollektive ETS-Vision noch schärfer verfeinert wird…

Produziert und gemischt von Lewis Johns, einer langjährigen Präsenz hinter dem Pult, enthält es eine Reihe von Special Guests, darunter Jesse Leach von Killswitch Engage bei „Whose Side Are You On?“ und Serena Cherry von Svalbard bei „Last Laugh“. „Fallen Star“, das dritte Album der Band über Spinefarm, ist ein Album von schwindelerregender Vielfalt, aber auch eines, das absolut kompromisslos ist. „Fallen Star“ geht einen bewusst anderen Weg als die kathartische Wut des Fan-Favoriten „The Heat of a Dying Sun“ (2017) und konzentriert sich auf positive Themen wie das Finden von innerem Vertrauen, das furchtlose Festhalten an Überzeugungen und das Umarmen der Kraft, die in einer eng verbundenen Gruppe fließt.

“’Fallen Star‘ is about enduring the burn out of someone close to us,” offer Employed To Serve front woman Justine Jones. “It can be devastating to look on helplessly as someone you care for continues to fly too close to the sun and not learn from it. Sometimes you need to just distance yourself and love them from afar. We felt it should be the title track as it thematically centers around the lyrics of the new record. Breaking bad habits and overcoming the challenges life throws our way.”

Justine adds: “The music video for this song displays the space and isolation felt whilst writing the lyrics for this song. As the title track of the album we wanted to make the video look as expansive and ethereal as the song.”

“We want to fly the flag for heavy metal and the traditions that it holds,” offers guitarist and songwriter Sammy Urwin, “But at the same time we want to play our part in taking things forward.”

Since meeting in their teens on the outskirts of London, vocalist Justine Jones and guitarist / co-vocalist Sammy have had their sights fixed on the road ahead. At first, it was all about standing with the local scene bands they admired, but before long they were forging a path of their own, lifers with a mission, evolving from the feral mathcore of their early EPs to detonating a full-throttle career high with 2021 album, ‘Conquering’. And now there’s ‘Fallen Star’, an 11-track tour-de-force that sees the collective ETS vision refined to an even sharper degree…

Produced and mixed by Lewis Johns, a longstanding presence behind the desk, it features a number of special guests, including Killswitch Engage’s Jesse Leach on ‘Whose Side Are You On?’ and Svalbard’s Serena Cherry on ‘Last Laugh’. ‘Fallen Star’, the band’s third album via Spinefarm, is a record of dizzying diversity, yet also one that is utterly uncompromising. Taking a deliberately different path to the cathartic anger of fan favourite release, The Warmth of a Dying Sun (2017), ‘Fallen Star’ focuses on positive themes, such as finding inner confidence, sticking fearlessly to beliefs and embracing the power that flows within a tight-knit group.
