Bitte sagt ein paar Worte über euch.
Ich bin Linnea Landstedt, Gründerin der Thrash-Metal-Band Tyranex, in der ich sowohl singe als auch Gitarre spiele und den größten Teil der Musik mache. Ich mache das seit Ende 2006 und liebe es immer noch. Es macht viel Spaß und kostet viel Energie, böse schnelle Musik zu spielen, man muss sich auf das konzentrieren, was man tut. Wir haben viel Spaß, wenn wir uns treffen und zusammen spielen.
Warum wird Thrash nie aus der Mode kommen? Aber auch nie den Status im Mainstream bekommen, den es verdient?
Wie bei jeder Musik, die geschaffen wird, gibt es immer Platz dafür, es gibt immer jemanden, der ein bestimmtes Genre mag, auch wenn es alt ist und danach neue Musik entstanden ist. Ich weiß nicht, warum Thrash Metal nicht mehr Aufmerksamkeit und Status bekommt! Es ist für mich unverständlich, weil es eines der interessantesten Genres ist, die es gibt…
Wer schreibt die Texte und wer hat die Ideen für die Songs?
Meistens bin ich es. Ich sitze mit meiner Gitarre da und versuche, mir lustige Riffs auszudenken, die ich spielen kann, und baue daraus einen ganzen Song auf. Meine Bandmitglieder bringen Ideen ein und geben dem, was ich gemacht habe, ihren Stempel. Normalerweise schreibe ich die Gesangsmelodie am Ende. Gemeinsam analysieren wir die Songs im Proberaum.
Manchmal hat ein Mitglied Songideen. Einer der Songs auf “Reasons for the Slaughter (Pyromaniac)” ist das Ergebnis des Songwritings von Schlagzeuger Pontus Petttersson-Gull.
Wenn es um die Texte geht, bin ich es normalerweise (wieder), der sie schreibt. Manchmal fällt es mir schwer, Ideen für Texte zu finden, und es kann wirklich schwierig sein, damit anzufangen. Ich schreibe leidenschaftlich gerne Musik und interessiere mich weniger für die Texte, daher sind sie normalerweise besonders schwierig zu schreiben. Ich bin jedoch mit den Texten des neuen Albums zufrieden. Sie sind aufwendiger als früher, ich habe mehr Zeit damit verbracht. Aggressive Songs erfordern böse, düstere Texte, also beschäftige ich mich mit Horrorthemen oder realen Ereignissen.
Zum Album “Reasons For The Slaughter”
Wie kam es zu dem Titel und was wäre für dich ein Grund für eine Eskalation?
Es war in meinem Kopf als eine Phrase, die in die Musik passte, die ich schrieb. Ursprünglich gab es keinen Hintergedanken für “Reasons For The Slaughter”, aber ich fand es eingängig und wollte einen Text darum herum aufbauen. Das Lied basiert auf einer realen Begebenheit, bei der sich ein Missionar auf die Suche nach einem isolierten Stamm auf einer Insel begibt. Es läuft nicht sehr gut für ihn.
Wer kam auf die Idee einer klassischen Ouvertüre?
Es war unser Gitarrist und Multimusiker Will Tomao. Er hat einen Hintergrund in klassischer Musik und kennt den brasilianischen Komponisten Alexey Kurkdjian, der das Intro geschrieben hat. Wir finden es wirklich passend, dass dieses düstere Streicher-Intro das Album eröffnet. (Anm.d.Red. DEFINITIV)
Machst du neben deinen Aufnahmen noch Sport? (Wenn man sich das Album anhört, ist es wirklich kraftvoll, was viel Energie erfordert.)
Nein, ich habe nie eine bestimmte Sportart ausgeübt. Um intensive Musik zu spielen, muss man üben, intensive Musik zu spielen. Um mit dem ganzen Register und mit Kraft singen zu können, muss man diesen Gesang üben. Wenn du in etwas gut sein willst, solltest du es unbedingt üben!
Wen würdest du für eine Session/Tour von den Toten auferwecken?
Dio, magischer Sänger! Ich habe ihn nur einmal live gesehen und es war einer der besten, die ich je gesehen habe
Fragen aus Neugier
Wie hältst du deine Stimmbänder in Form?
Ich bin wahrscheinlich nicht sehr gut darin. Ich habe meine Stimme verloren, nachdem ich das Album aufgenommen hatte, und es hat lange gedauert, bis ich wieder dazu zurückgefunden habe. Die Gesangsaufnahmen waren intensiv und ich habe alle Songs an einem Wochenende gesungen. Ein paar Wochen später wurde ich krank, wie eine normale Erkältung, aber ich verlor meine Stimme vollständig. Wir mussten eine geplante Live-Show absagen. Ich glaube, ich habe mich überanstrengt. Ich habe mir selbst beigebracht, so zu singen, wie ich es tue, und habe keinen Unterricht genommen, daher ist es manchmal schwer zu wissen, ob man das Richtige tut, aber solange man keine Schmerzen bekommt, ist es in Ordnung. Sie müssen sich ausruhen und erholen und sich am besten aufwärmen, bevor ihr singt.
Gibt es Tourpläne für 2023/2024?
Wir hoffen, dass wir rausgehen und spielen und so viele Fans wie möglich treffen können. Wir lieben es, live zu spielen und würden gerne neue Orte sehen.

Please say a few short words about yourself.
I am Linnea Landstedt, founder of the thrash metal band Tyranex where I both sing and play guitar and make most of the music. I have been doing this since the end of 2006 and still love it. It’s a lot of fun and energy consuming to play evil fast music, you have to stay focused on what you do. We have a lot of fun when we meet and play together.
Why will thrash never go out of style? But also never get the status in the mainstream that it deserves?
Like all music created, there’s always room for it, there’s always someone who likes a certain genre even if it’s old and new music has emerged after that. I don’t know why thrash metal doesn’t get more attention and status! It’s incomprehensible to me because it’s one of the most interesting genres there is…
Who writes the lyrics and who comes up with the ideas for the songs?
Most of the time it’s me. I sit with my guitar and try to come up with fun riffs to play and build a whole song from there. My band members add ideas and put their touch on what I’ve done. I usually write the vocal melody at the end. We analyse the songs in the rehearsal room together.
Sometimes a member comes up with song ideas. One of the songs on Reasons for the Slaughter (Pyromaniac) is the result of drummer Pontus Petttersson-Gull’s songwriting.
When it comes to the lyrics, it’s usually me (again) who writes them. I sometimes have a hard time coming up with ideas for lyrics and it can be really tough to get started. I’m most passionate about writing music and less interested in the lyrics, so they’re usually extra difficult to write. However, I’m happy with the lyrics on the new album. They are more elaborate than before, I have spent more time on it. Aggressive songs require evil, dark lyrics so I base them on horror themes or real events.
About the Album “Reasons For The Slaughter”
How did the title come about and what would be reasons for an escalation for you?
It was in my head as a phrase that fit into the music I was writing. Originally there was no ulterior motive for “Reasons for the slaughter” but I thought it was catchy and wanted to build a lyric around it. The song is based on a real event where a missionary goes on a quest to an isolated tribe on an island. Things don’t go very well for him.
Who came up with the idea of a classic overture?
It was our guitarist and multi-musician Will Tomao. He has a background in classical music and knows a Brazilian composer Alexey Kurkdjian who wrote the intro. We think it’s really fitting that this dark string intro opens up the album.
Do you do any sports besides your recordings? (If you listen to the album, it’s really powerful, which requires a lot of energy.)
No, I have never done any particular sport. To play intense music, you have to practise playing intense music. To be able to sing with the whole register and with power, you need to practise such singing. If you want to be good at something, make sure you practise it!
Who would you resurrect from the dead for a session/tour?
Dio, magical singer! I only got to see him live once and it was one of the best I’ve seen
Questions out of curiosity
How do you keep your vocal cords in shape?
I’m probably not very good at it. I lost my voice after recording the album and it’s taken me a long time to get back to it. The vocal recording was intense and I sang all the songs in one weekend. A few weeks later I got sick, like a normal cold, but I lost my voice completely. We had to cancel a planned live show. I think I overexerted myself. I’ve taught myself to sing the way I do and haven’t taken lessons, so sometimes it’s hard to know if you’re doing the right thing, but as long as you don’t get pain it’s fine. You have to put in rest and recovery and preferably warm up before you sing.
Are there any tour plans for 2023/2024?
We hope to get out and play and meet as many fans as possible. We love playing live and would love to see new places.
