Neu bei Debemur Morti: Miserere Luminis
Geschmiedet im heißen Schmelztiegel der Black Metal-Szene von Quebec, entstand 2008 eine einzigartige künstlerische Einheit, die die kreativen Kräfte hinter GRIS und SOMBRES FORÊTS vereinte. Geboren aus der gemeinsamen Vision der Bandmitglieder Neptune, Icare und Annatar, offenbarten sich Miserere Luminis erstmals über zwei packende Alben unter Sepulchral Productions. Nun verkündet die Band stolz ihre Allianz mit DMP für die Veröffentlichung von zukünftigem Material.
Miserere Luminis und ihr selbstbetiteltes Debüt von 2009 waren ursprünglich als einsamer Glanzblitz gedacht. Wie die Band sagt: „Zu Beginn war Miserere Luminis als vergänglich gedacht, ein einmaliges Ereignis. Es war ein einfaches Kollaborationsprojekt zwischen unseren jeweiligen Bands, GRIS und SOMBRES FORÊTS. Zuerst ein Flackern, stellten wir bald fest, dass es sein eigenes Wesen und seine eigene Identität hatte. Aber es ist einfach die einzige Musik, die wir erschaffen können: ein leidenschaftlicher und explorativer Black Metal, in den wir unser Herz stecken.“
Fünfzehn Jahre künstlerischer Verwandtschaft haben diese Initialzündung in eine anhaltende kreative Flamme verwandelt. Mit der Veröffentlichung ihres gefeierten zweiten Albums „Ordalie“ aus dem Jahr 2023 kehrten Miserere Luminis nach einem längeren Aufenthalt im Schatten zurück und nahmen eine leuchtendere Präsenz auf. Die Reise geht nun weiter, mit der Arbeit an einem kommenden dritten Album, das verspricht, noch tiefer in den charakteristischen Sound der Band einzutauchen: eine komplexe, atmosphärische und emotionale Vision des Black Metal.
„Die Hörer können das nächste Kapitel von „Ordalie“ erwarten. Das nächste Album entstand größtenteils in der gleichen Zeit. Wir treiben einige Ideen und Experimente beim nächsten Album noch ein wenig voran, aber es wird in die gleiche globale Richtung gehen: lange Stücke mit kontrastierenden Momenten, von episch bis traurig, eine Mischung aus Schönheit und Wut.“
„Wir wollen auf jeden Fall nach Europa zurückkehren, sobald das nächste Album veröffentlicht wird. Unser nächster Live-Auftritt könnte Ende des Jahres sein. Offiziell ist aber noch nichts geplant.“
Forged in the searing crucible of Quebec’s Black Metal scene, a singular artistic entity emerged in 2008 which united the creative forces behind GRIS and SOMBRES FORÊTS. Born from the shared vision of band-members Neptune, Icare, and Annatar, MISERERE LUMINIS first revealed itself via two enthralling albums under Sepulchral Productions. Now, the band proudly announces its alliance with DMP for the release of future material.
MISERERE LUMINIS and their self-titled 2009 debut were originally intended to be a solitary flash of brilliance. As the band states: „At the onset, MISERERE LUMINIS was meant to be evanescent, a one-time occurrence. It was a simple collaboration project between our respective bands, GRIS and SOMBRES FORÊTS. A flicker at first, we soon found that it had its own essence and identity. But plainly, it’s the only music we can create: a passionate and explorative Black Metal in which we pour our hearts.„
Fifteen years of artistic kinship have transformed that initial spark into a sustained creative flame. With the release of acclaimed 2023 second album, „Ordalie„, MISERERE LUMINIS returned from a longer stay in the shadows and embraced a more luminous presence. The journey now continues, with work progressing fast on an upcoming third album which promises to delve even deeper into the band’s signature sound: an intricate, atmospheric and emotive vision of Black Metal.
„Listeners can expect the next chapter of „Ordalie„. The next album was mostly created during the same time. We push some ideas and experimentations a little further on the next one, but it’s going to be in the same global vein: long pieces with contrasted moments, from epic to sorrowful, a blend of beauty and anger.„
„We certainly wish to come back to Europe as soon as the next album is released. Our next live appearance might be at the end of the year. But nothing is officially planned yet.„
