Smoke Mountain, das gefeierte Doom-Trio aus Tallahassee, Florida, freut sich, die Veröffentlichung ihres mit Spannung erwarteten neuen Albums „The Rider“ bekannt zu geben, das am 28. März 2025 über Argonauta Records erscheint. Neben dieser Ankündigung hat die Band die erste Single und das erste Video des Albums, „Hell or Paradise“, enthüllt und den Fans einen verlockenden Einblick in das nächste Kapitel ihrer musikalischen Reise gewährt.
Smoke Mountain wurden 2015 gegründet und haben sich mit ihrer selbstbetitelten Debüt-EP im Jahr 2017, die breite Anerkennung erhielt und die Bühne für ihr erstes Album bereitete, schnell einen Platz in der Doom-Metal-Szene erobert. „Queen of Sin“ wurde 2020 über das italienische Label Argonauta Records veröffentlicht und wurde von der Kritik für seine eindringlichen Melodien, zermalmenden Riffs und seine atmosphärische Tiefe gelobt.
Mit „The Rider“ bauen Smoke Mountain auf diesem Erbe auf und erkunden gleichzeitig neue klangliche Territorien. Die Lead-Single des Albums „Hell or Paradise“ fängt die Entwicklung der Band sowohl textlich als auch musikalisch ein. Released via Italy’s Argonauta Records in 2020, Queen of Sin earned critical praise for its haunting melodies, crushing riffs, and atmospheric depth.
With The Rider, Smoke Mountain builds upon this legacy while exploring new sonic territories. The album remains true to the band’s doom roots, showcasing their signature blend of occult themes, heavy grooves, and evocative lyrics. At the same time, it reveals a matured approach to melody, arrangement, and production.
The record features eight tracks: five brand-new compositions alongside remastered versions of the three songs from the band’s seminal EP, available on vinyl for the first time.
