Neues aus dem Hause: Yeah, Sick!
Als Victorias genreübergreifende Band Yeah, Sick! 2022 mit ihrem Debüt „Set To Devour Us All!“ nach dem Lockdown zum ersten Mal auftauchte, waren sie ein augenzwinkerndes Experiment, das sich zu etwas viel Größerem entwickelte. Jetzt, mit ihrer neuen EP „Your Herbs And Spices Won’t Save You Now!“, hat die Band ihren chaotischen Mix aus Hardcore-Punk-Energie und Groove-Metal-Swag noch weiter ausgeprägt, wobei sie sowohl ihren Sound als auch ihren Sinn für Humor geschärft haben.
Die neue Veröffentlichung fängt alles ein, was Yeah, Sick! ausmacht: brutale Riffs, unvorhersehbare Wendungen und eine respektlose Ader, die dafür sorgt, dass alles genauso witzig wie wütend ist. Doch unter dem Chaos herrscht mehr Kontrolle denn je, besonders bei den Vocals von Liam „Frosty“ Frost-Camilleri, die emotional und technisch weiter reichen, Reichweite und Zurückhaltung zeigen, ohne die rohe Intensität zu verlieren, die die Fans erwarten.
Dieses EP markiert auch die erste Veröffentlichung mit Dazz Powell am Bass, dessen verspielte Präsenz und Liebe zur bizarren Seite der Musik der Chemie der Band einen neuen Funken verliehen haben. „Wir haben uns dieses Mal stark auf das Absonderliche eingelassen“, lacht Dazz. „Es ist schwer, es ist lächerlich, und irgendwie ergibt alles Sinn.“
Unterdessen treibt Benito Martinos Schlagzeug das EP mit donnernder Präzision und kreativer Finesse voran und verankert das Chaos mit Grooves, die so hart treffen wie der Humor. Seine Performance ist ebenso explosiv wie komplex und hebt jeden Song in den Overdrive.
Getreu ihrem DIY-Ethos haben Yeah, Sick! das gesamte EP selbst aufgenommen und produziert und ihren Mitarbeiter Gavin Sherri für das Mixing und Mastering hinzugezogen. Das Ergebnis ist roh, energiegeladen und unverkennbar sie selbst – ein perfekter Schnappschuss einer Band, die Spaß hat und sich musikalisch weiterentwickelt.

The new release captures everything that’s come to define Yeah, Sick!: brutal riffs, unpredictable turns, and an irreverent streak that keeps things as funny as they are furious. But beneath the chaos, there’s more control than ever, especially in Liam “Frosty” Frost-Camilleri’s vocals, which stretch further both emotionally and technically, showing range and restraint without losing the raw intensity fans expect.
This EP also marks the first release with Dazz Powell on bass, whose playful presence and love for the bizarre side of music have added a new spark to the band’s chemistry. “We leaned hard into the weirdness this time,” Dazz laughs. “It’s heavy, it’s ridiculous, and somehow it all makes sense.”
Meanwhile, Benito Martino’s drumming drives the EP with thunderous precision and creative flair, anchoring the chaos with grooves that hit as hard as the humour. His performance is as explosive as it is intricate, lifting every song into overdrive.
True to their DIY ethos, Yeah, Sick! recorded and produced the entire EP themselves, bringing in collaborator Gavin Sherri to handle the mixing and mastering. The result is raw, energetic, and unmistakably them, a perfect snapshot of a band having fun while pushing themselves musically.
