Die deutsche Thrash-Metal-Institution Paradox hat einen ersten Song aus dem bevorstehenden neuen Album „Mysterium“ vorgestellt, das am 26. September 2025 über High Roller Records veröffentlicht wird.

„Mysterium“ ist das neunte Studioalbum von Paradox und stellt einen besonderen Meilenstein in der 44-jährigen Geschichte der Band dar, da Gründer und Mastermind Charly Steinhauer nicht nur alle Saiteninstrumente spielte, die Drums programmierte und sang, sondern auch die gesamte Produktion selbst in die Hand nahm. Nur das Mastering wurde in die kompetenten Hände von Patrick W. Engels gelegt.

Die Songs sind thematisch miteinander verbunden, ohne dass es sich um ein klassisches Konzeptwerk handelt. Die Texte – die, wie bei „Tales of the Weird“ (2012) und „Pangea“ (2016), von Achim „Dax“ Hömerlein (ex-Vendetta) geschrieben wurden – kreisen um mystische Geschichten und Weltgeschehen, die Steinhauer persönlich berührt haben. Songs wie „Abyss of Pain and Fear“ (inspiriert von dem Film „Midnight Express“), das instrumentale „Grief“ (eine Hommage an Mitbegründer Axel Blaha, der 2023 verstorben ist) oder der Titelsong (über Traumdeutung) bilden somit einen roten Faden.

Nach Steinhauers eigener Einschätzung ist „Mysterium“ neben ihrem Klassiker von 1989 „Heresy“ das stärkste Paradox-Album bis heute! „Die Lieder haben alle ihre eigene Identität, sind eingängig, und wenn das Album vorbei ist, möchte ich es sofort wieder hören.“

German Thrash Metal institution PARADOX has premiered a first song from the upcoming new album „Mysterium“, set for release on September 26th 2025 via High Roller Records.

„Mysterium“ is the ninth studio album by PARADOX and marks a special milestone in the band’s 44-year history, as founder and mastermind Charly Steinhauer not only played all stringed instruments, programmed the drums and sang, but also handled the production entirely on his own. Only the mastering was left to Patrick W. Engels competent hands.

The songs are thematically linked, without it being a classic concept work. The lyrics – which, as on „Tales of the Weird“ (2012) and „Pangea“ (2016), were written by Achim „Dax“ Hömerlein (ex-Vendetta) – revolve around mystical stories and world events that have personally moved Steinhauer. Songs like „Abyss of Pain and Fear“ (inspired by the movie „Midnight Express“), the instrumental „Grief“ (a tribute to co-founder Axel Blaha, who died in 2023) or the title track (about dream interpretation) thus form a common thread.

In Steinhauer’s own estimation, „Mysterium“ is alongside their 1989 classic “Heresy” the strongest PARADOX album to date! „The songs all have their own identity, are catchy, and when the album is over, I want to listen to it again straight away.”
