Die legendären französischen Death-Grinder Putrid Offal kehren mit ihrem lang erwarteten neuen Album „Obliterated Life“ zurück, das am 11. April 2025 über Time To Kill Records erscheinen wird.

Nach ihrem von der Kritik hochgelobten Album „Sicknesses Obsessions“ aus dem Jahr 2020, das sich mit den Ursprüngen der Pathologie und der Geschichte von Vesalius befasste, führen Putrid Offal ihr viszerales Storytelling nun in die brutale Welt der Kriegsmedizin des 18. Jahrhunderts.

„Obliterated Life“ erforscht die grimmige Realität der Chirurgie auf dem Schlachtfeld durch die Linse von Dominique-Jean Larrey (1766-1842), einem bahnbrechenden Militärchirurgen, der die Medizin auf dem Schlachtfeld revolutionierte. Inmitten des Gemetzels des Krieges arbeitete Larrey unermüdlich an der Front, amputierte Gliedmaßen, entfernte Kugeln und nähte Eingeweide in einer Umgebung, die von Blut und dem Gestank septischen Fleisches durchtränkt war. Diese erschütternde Schilderung bildet die Grundlage für ein erbarmungsloses Hörerlebnis.

Ausgelöscht aus den kriechenden Eingeweiden der wogenden Death/Grind-Szene der frühen Neunziger, wurden die Franzosen Putrid Offal mit ihrer ersten Splatterplatte, die 1991 von Wimp Records (LP) und Adipocere Records (CD) veröffentlicht wurde, zum Kultact. Bis zur Mitte des Jahrzehnts löste sich das Band jedoch allmählich in Formaldehyd auf.

Aber das ist nicht tot, was schläft, und das Biest wurde 25 Jahre später wieder lebendig und lieferte mit der Veröffentlichung ihres richtigen Debütalbums „Mature Necropsy“ im Jahr 2015 eine neue Vision ihrer Kunst. Es folgten unzählige Europatourneen und Auftritte auf Festivals, darunter ihr legendärer Auftritt beim weltberühmten Hellfest 2017, der live für eine Bonus-DVD zu ihrem zweiten Album „Sicknesses Obsessions“ (2020) aufgenommen wurde. Bald folgte eine weitere Spur der Verwüstung in ganz Europa.

Putrid Offal liefern Old-School-Death-Grind, der stark von den frühen Werken von Carcass („Reek of Putrefaction“, „Symphonies of Sickness“, „Necroticism“) und der anfänglichen Death-Metal-Phase von Napalm Death („Harmony Corruption“, „Utopia Banished“) inspiriert ist. Mit diesen Zutaten hat die Band ein solides und unverwechselbares Fundament für ihren Sound geschaffen.

Mit „Obliterated Life“ fügen Putrid Offal ihre eigene Note hinzu, die von über drei Jahrzehnten Studioarbeit und künstlerischer Entwicklung geprägt ist. Dieses neue Album stellt den Höhepunkt ihrer Karriere dar: ein klangliches Gemetzel, kraftvoll, dreckig und brutal. The legendary French death-grinders PUTRID OFFAL return with their long-awaited new album, „Obliterated Life“, set for release on 11th April 2025 via Time To Kill Records.

Following their critically acclaimed 2020 album „Sicknesses Obsessions“, which delved into the origins of pathology and the story of Vesalius, PUTRID OFFAL now take their visceral storytelling to the brutal world of 18th-century war medicine. „Obliterated Life“ explores the grim reality of battlefield surgery through the lens of Dominique-Jean Larrey (1766–1842), a pioneering military surgeon who revolutionised battlefield medicine. Amidst the carnage of war, Larrey worked relentlessly on the frontlines, amputating limbs, extracting bullets, and suturing bowels in an environment drenched in blood and the stench of septic flesh. This harrowing narrative sets the stage for a merciless auditory experience.

Extirpated from the crepitating bowels of the surging death/grind scene of the early nineties, France’s PUTRID OFFAL became a cult act with their first platter of splatter, released in 1991 by Wimp Records (LP) and Adipocere Records (CD). However, the band gradually dissolved in formaldehyde by the middle of the decade.

But that is not dead which sleeps, and the beast came alive again 25 years later, delivering a renewed vision of their art with the release of their proper debut album, „Mature Necropsy“, in 2015. This was followed by countless European tours and appearances at festivals, including their iconic 2017 performance at the world-famous Hellfest, captured live for a bonus DVD accompanying their second full-length, „Sicknesses Obsessions“ (2020). Another trail of devastation across Europe soon followed.

PUTRID OFFAL deliver old-school death grind deeply inspired by the early works of Carcass (“Reek of Putrefaction”, “Symphonies of Sickness”, “Necroticism”) and the initial death metal phase of Napalm Death (“Harmony Corruption”, “Utopia Banished”). With these ingredients, the band has crafted a solid and unmistakable foundation for their sound.

With „Obliterated Life“, PUTRID OFFAL add their own distinct touch, shaped by over three decades of studio work and artistic evolution. This new album represents the pinnacle of their career: a sonic butchery, powerful, filthy and brutal. Everything is in place to wound, crush and leave a lasting impact.
