Nach dem gefeierten „Firescorched“, das 2022 veröffentlicht wurde, verspricht das neue Album „Something To Pierce“ sowohl musikalisch als auch textlich noch aggressiver zu werden. Der zehnte Teil der Band ist eine mutige Verschmelzung von Technik, Aggression und Experimentierfreude; Kurz gesagt, „ein weiterer Schritt zur Definition eines einzigartigen Musikstils, den man einfach lieben muss… oder hassen“, kommentiert Gründungsmitglied und Mastermind Tommy Talamanca. „Ob es dir gefällt oder nicht, niemand klingt wie Sadist!“
„Something To Pierce“ wurde von Tommy Talamanca in den Nadir Music Studios in Genua, Italien, aufgenommen, gemischt und gemastert. Das Cover-Artwork stammt von Andreas Christanetoff von Armaada Art (Aborted).
Sadist begannen in den frühen neunziger Jahren, nachdem sie aus Genua in Italien hervorgegangen waren. Die Band war ihrer Zeit voraus und bot eine abenteuerliche Herangehensweise an das sich damals entwickelnde Progressive Death Metal-Subgenre. Seine Präsenz wurde durch einen unverwechselbaren Stil fest etabliert, der seit dem Debüt „Above The Light“ (1993) erkennbar ist. Nach einer fünfjährigen Pause (2000-2005) kehrten Sadist zu ihrer bewährten Klangformel des Jazz-infizierten epischen Prog-Death zurück, der mit Einflüssen aus dem Nahen Osten behaftet ist.
Auf ihrem Weg gaben Sadist Konzerte für Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer und Motörhead und wurden auf hochkarätigen Festivals (Wacken Open Air, Gods Of Metal, Hellfest) bekannt. Allein im Jahr 2023 teilte sich die Band die Bühne mit Samael, Pantera, Dark Tranquility und Sepultura und spielte auch im Jahr 2024 noch Festivals und einmalige Termine, während sie ihrem neuen Album „Something To Pierce“ den letzten Schliff gab. Zu den letzten Live-Auftritten der Gruppe gehören Prog Power Europe und Corpsorate Death Fest.
Following the well-acclaimed „Firescorched“, released in 2022, the new album „Something To Pierce“ promises to be even more aggressive, both musically and lyrically. The band’s tenth installment is a bold amalgamation of technique, aggression and experimentation; in short, „a further step towards the definition of a unique music style, which you can’t help but love…or hate,“ comments founding member & mastermind, Tommy Talamanca. „Like it or not, nobody sounds like Sadist!“

Sadist started out in the early nineties, having emerged from Genoa in Italy. The band went ahead of its time, with an adventurous take on the then-developing progressive death metal subgenre. Its presence was firmly established through an unmistakable style, detectable since the debut installment „Above The Light“ (1993). After a five year hiatus (2000-2005), SADIST returned to its proven sonic formula of jazz-infected epic prog-death, fraught with Middle-Eastern influences.
Along its path, Sadist kicked off concerts for Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Slayer and Motorhead, and gained exposure at high-profile fests (Wacken Open Air, Gods Of Metal, Hellfest). In 2023 alone, the band shared the stage with Samael, Pantera, Dark Tranquility and Sepultura, and continued to play festivals and one-off dates throughtout 2024, amidst putting final touches on new album, „Something To Pierce“. Among the group’s last live appeacnces are Prog Power Europe and Corpsorate Death Fest.
