Neues aus dem Hause: Dephosphorus
Ein erschütterndes Hauptwerk, „Planetoktonos“ fasst die einzigartige Mischung aus kosmischem Grindcore und existenzieller Vision der Band zusammen, die sowohl brennende Aggression als auch expansive Tiefe kanalisiert. Lyrisch inspiriert von der Buchreihe The Expanse und dem Konzept der planetarischen Vernichtung, markiert der Song einen entscheidenden Moment in der Evolution der Band, in dem Intensität, Intellekt und Innovation aufeinanderprallen.
„Planetoktonos“ wird am 18. Juli 2025 veröffentlicht. Die LP-Ausgabe wird von 7Degrees Records und Nerve Altar gemeinsam veröffentlicht, während Selfmadegod Records die CD-Version übernimmt.
Dephosphorus hat das Ziel, das Bewusstsein der Zuhörer zu erweitern und eine Vision einer nachhaltigen Zukunft zu fördern, in der die Menschheit nicht nur überlebt, sondern in Harmonie mit ihrer Biosphäre – und sogar mit KI – gedeiht. Ähnlich wie die anarchistische Utopie, die Iain M. Banks in seinen Kultur-Büchern vorgestellt hat, ist diese Zukunft eine, in der Technologie und Menschheit symbiotisch koexistieren.
Ihr neuester Versuch, „Planetoktonos“, ist die fünfte Studioveröffentlichung der Band, eine heftige Sammlung von 9 kosmischen, bedrohlichen Tracks, die eine Hommage an die Energie und Dynamik bahnbrechender Acts wie Anodyne, Nasum, Playing Enemy, Breach, Knut, Leviathan und Bolt Thrower sind.
„Planetoktonos“ – ein von der Band geprägtes griechisches Wort, das grob mit „Planetenkiller“ übersetzt wird – bringt Dephosphorus näher als je zuvor an ihren idealen Klang. Achtsam geschmiedet in der positiven Atmosphäre des Ignite Studios, einer aufstrebenden Säule der lokalen Underground-Szene (Heimat von Acts wie Antimob, Embrace Of Thorns und Chain Cult), wurde das Album vom Klangguru James Plotkin (OLD, Khanate) gemastert, um sicherzustellen, dass jedes Detail mit Wirkung eintrifft.
Psychedelische Schichten sind dank des Elektronikmeisterminds Miltos Schimatariotis, einem langjährigen Mitarbeiter und inoffiziellen fünften Mitglied der Band, in das Albumgewebe eingewebt. Schimatariotis, Besitzer des Northside Studio, war prägend für frühere Veröffentlichungen wie „Night Sky Transform“, „Ravenous Solemnit“ und ihr Kollaborationsalbum mit Haapoja.
Wie immer erkundet Dephosphorus Science-Fiction und Kosmologie durch eine existenzielle und politische Linse, sowohl in den Texten als auch in der Ästhetik von „Planetoktonos“. Mehrere Stücke, zusammen mit dem Titel und dem Artwork des Albums – gestaltet von Graphic No Jutsu (siehe Planet Of Zeus, Nightrage usw.) – sind inspiriert von der Buchreihe The Expanse von James S.A. Corey, einem nahen Zukunftsuniversum, in dem die Menschheit das Sonnensystem kolonisiert hat, aber den unbekannten Folgen begegnet, die mit dem Kontakt zu fremder Intelligenz und Technologie verbunden sind. Andere Stücke tauchen in Reflexionen über kosmologische und existenzielle Themen ein, von Dyson-Sphären und der Beständigkeit des Lebens bis hin zur Toxizität des Defätismus und den drohenden Bedrohungen durch ungezügelte KI oder Superintelligenz.

DEPHOSPHORUS aims to expand listeners’ consciousness, fostering a vision of a sustainable future where humanity not only survives but thrives in harmony with its biosphere – and even with AI. Much like the anarchic utopia imagined by Iain M. Banks in The Culture books, this future is one where technology and humanity coexist symbiotically.
Their latest effort, “Planetoktonos”, is the band’s fifth full-length release, a ferocious collection of 9 cosmic, menacing tracks that pay tribute to the energy and dynamics of trailblazing acts such as Anodyne, Nasum, Playing Enemy, Breach, Knut, Leviathan and Bolt Thrower.
“Planetoktonos” – a Greek word coined by the band, roughly translating to “Planetkiller”- brings DEPHOSPHORUS closer than ever to their ideal sound. Mindfully forged in the positive atmosphere of Ignite Studio, a rising cornerstone of the local underground scene (home to acts like Antimob, Embrace Of Thorns and Chain Cult), the album was mastered by sonic guru James Plotkin (OLD, Khanate), ensuring every detail hits with impact.
Psychedelic layers are woven into the album’s fabric thanks to electronics mastermind Miltos Schimatariotis, a long- term collaborator and unofficial fifth member of the band. Schimatariotis, owner of Northside Studio, has been instrumental in shaping previous releases such as “Night Sky Transform”, “Ravenous Solemnit” and their collaboration LP with Haapoja.
As always, DEPHOSPHORUS explores science fiction and cosmology through an existential and political lens in both the lyrics and aesthetics of “Planetoktonos”. Several tracks, along with the album’s title and artwork – designed by Graphic No Jutsu (see Planet Of Zeus, Nightrage, etc.) – are inspired by The Expanse novel series by James S.A. Corey, a near-future universe where humanity has colonized the Solar System but faces the unknown consequences of encountering alien intelligence and technology. Other tracks delve into reflections on cosmologic and existential themes, spanning Dyson spheres and the persistence of life to the toxicity of defeatism and the looming threats of rogue AI or superintelligence.
